Our vision
As an organisation for professional acousticians, companies active in the sector of acoustics and all interested in acoustics in Belgium, the Belgian Acoustics Association is actively working to promote the importance of acoustics to the Belgian government and policy makers. Our society board is dedicated to representing the interests of our members and advocating for the importance of acoustics in all aspects of society.
We believe that acoustics plays a vital role in a wide range of fields, from architecture to environmental protection and public health to transportation and infrastructure planning. That is why we are working to ensure that the Belgian government and decision makers are aware of the importance of acoustics and are taking it into consideration in their decision-making processes.
We are committed to being the voice of the acoustics community in Belgium, and to ensuring that our field is recognized and valued by policy makers and the public.

Symposia
EventsThe Belgian Acoustics Association organizes regular symposia on various topics related to acoustics. These events provide an opportunity for members and non-members alike to learn about the latest research and developments in the field, network with colleagues, and engage in discussions about important issues. Our symposia feature presentations from leading experts in acoustics, as well as opportunities for attendees to share their own work and ideas. We believe that these events are an important part of our mission to promote the field of acoustics and foster a sense of community among acousticians in Belgium. We encourage all members to attend our symposia and take advantage of the opportunities they provide for learning and collaboration. These events are accessible to members (reduced fee) and non-members. Whether you are a seasoned professional or a student just starting out in the field, these symposia are a great way to stay informed and connected with your colleagues.
European Acoustics Association
EAA websiteThe Belgian Acoustics Association is a proud member of the European Acoustics Association (EAA). The EAA is a federation of national acoustics societies in Europe, and it works to promote the field of acoustics and support the work of acousticians across the continent. As a member of the EAA, ABAV has access to a wide range of resources and opportunities, including conferences, workshops, and networking events. We also have the opportunity to collaborate with other national societies and contribute to the development of acoustics policy and practice at the European level. Through our membership in the EAA, we are able to stay connected with the broader acoustics community and keep our members informed about the latest developments in the field. We regularly share information about EAA events, publications, and other relevant information, we are committed to helping our members stay connected and informed about the broader world of acoustics. ABAV is also involved with the organisation of international conferences since a few decades.
ICA and I-INCE
The Belgian Acoustics Association is also a member of the International Commission for Acoustics (ICA) and the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-INCE). These organizations work to promote the field of acoustics and noise control engineering on a global scale, and they provide valuable resources and opportunities for acousticians and noise control engineers around the world.
